During his inspection of Olympic facilities in Sochi, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said, in particular, that he has no concerns about them failing to pay for themselves after the Olympics. According to Mr Kozak, investors have never expressed concern about this. The Deputy Prime Minister said that a programme for utilising Olympic facilities after the Olympic Games was approved in February. A working group led by a deputy finance minister is assessing possible financial models.
Dmitry Kozak said that work on the vast majority of facilities is on schedule. The hotel complex in the Imereti Valley has caused concern, as some phases of its construction are 30 to 45 days behind schedule. However, the builders promised to catch up by July 5. The contractor has guaranteed that the hotel will be commissioned in October, Dmitry Kozak said.
According to Mr Kozak, the Government decided not to build the Kudepsta thermal power plant for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, since the investor could not guarantee its completion by the start of the Olympic Games. Instead, temporary generating capacities of the Sochi-2014 Organising Committee and Olimpstroy will be increased to make sure that Sochi and the Olympic facilities enjoy reliable power supply during the Games.
