The bank’s performance in 2015 was under review, as well as the functioning of its various units.
From Dmitry Medvedev’s opening remarks:
Today we are holding a regular meeting of Vnesheconombank Supervisory Board.
We need to support the bank in order to ensure it continues working and meets its statutory goals. With this aim in view, we will have to adopt a plan to optimise the bank’s operations through various forms of government and non-government support.
Vnesheconombank remains a key financial development institution. The government cannot leave it completely alone to deal with the problems stemming from the financial and economic situation in the country, as well as from all the sanctions and other kinds of pressure, which are also hard on the entire financial sector.
Today we will look at a number of resolutions, including those related to my recent visit to China. We signed a 10 billion yuan loan deal with the China Development Bank there.
The funds will be used to finance Vnesheconombank projects that involve Chinese companies. We have a specific project in mind already.
