Dmitry Medvedev meets with winners and medalists of the 28th World Summer Universiade
Our reason for meeting is a pleasant one: your brilliant performance at the 28th World Summer Universiade in the Republic of Korea. You won the first place in the overall medal count and second place in the gold medal count. This excellent result adds to what our athletes have accomplished in the past few years: at the Sochi Winter Olympics, the Universiade in Kazan and the recent victory at the European Games in Baku. You have confirmed that our student sport is at the top level.
In the current difficult times, the Government will continue to do what it can to support high achievement sport and the general development of physical fitness in our country. We are practically not reducing anything in sport, although we had to cut back on many other programmes.
I’d also like to present to you letters of gratitude from the Government of the Russian Federation.
