Presentation of the St Petersburg International Legal Forum Award. With Kazakh Justice Minister Berik Imashev
The St Petersburg International Legal Forum Award “Contribution to the Development of Legal Integration in the Eurasian Space”was established in 2014 for rewarding a significant contribution to the development of law and the promotion of values that are important for the legal community across the world.
This year’s winners:
- Kazakh Justice Minister Berik Imashev;
- Alexei Mordashov, chair of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Committee on Integration, Trade and Customs Policy and the WTO, general director of Severstal Management;
- Svetlana Smirnova, director of the Russian Federal Centre of Forensic Science, the Ministry of Justice
From Dmitry Medvedev’s remarks at the awards ceremony:
It is symbolic that those who will receive awards today represent not only Government, but also business and the expert community. This three-way cooperation can develop our legal system and ensure maximum benefits from integration in the Eurasian Economic Union.
Each winner has been personally involved in drafting the EAEU’s key documents. This is the first time we have done this, so it is quite a challenge, especially when the positions of different countries have to be harmonised, even if these countries are closely related and friendly. This ceremony is designed to highlight once again the importance of the efforts to improve the EAEU’s regulatory and legal framework, primarily in the sphere of business climate, economic regulation, intellectual property and enhancing the quality of forensic review.
