Please accept my heartfelt wishes on the 245th anniversary of Ingushetia’s voluntary accession to Russia.
Your predecessors were the first North Caucasian people to make this choice. They swore allegiance to Russia, thereby linking their destiny with it. Residents of Ingushetia have not violated the treaty, signed almost a quarter of a millennium ago.
They made a large contribution to the unity of our state and fought selflessly for the freedom and independence of our homeland during the Great Patriotic War. Twenty seven of them were awarded with the stars of the Hero of the Soviet Union for courage and heroism, while Malgobek received the honourable title of the City of Combat Glory.
Today Ingushetia is developing dynamically and its economic potential is growing. It is implementing in-demand social projects and restoring its cultural traditions. Ingushetia is one of the most beautiful parts of this country, with a powerful tourist potential. Its new capital – the city of Magas – is growing and becoming more beautiful with every passing year.
I am confident that the industrious and persistent residents of Ingushetia will continue making great achievements.
I wish you good health, prosperity and all the best.
Sincerely,
Dmitry Medvedev
