Mr Prime Minister,
On behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation and on my own behalf, I would like to express my condolences on the tragic death of Total oil company CEO and Board Chairman Christophe de Margerie and his plane’s crew.
This is a great loss. Just the day before, I met with Christophe de Margerie at the meeting of the Foreign Investment Advisory Council, where we discussed further cooperation and Total’s expansion in Russia.
A man of high personal and professional qualities, Christophe de Margerie was a friend and partner of our country and always openly expressed his opinion on the most pressing issues. We will really miss him.
In this difficult period, I would ask you to convey my sympathy and support to the widow, family and friends of Christophe de Margerie and to the families of the plane’s crew. We will do everything necessary for a prompt investigation into the tragedy.
