Dmitry Medvedev: “We need to adapt to new challenges and find sources of development. These goals remain among the bank’s priorities.”
Dmitry Medvedev’s opening remarks:
The Government has decided to support the Bank for Development, so that it will maintain the volume of its contribution to the country’s economic development, and to recapitalise it with federal budget allocations. Moreover, we need to ensure the necessary volume of funding and liquidity with support from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, totalling up to 240 billion roubles, and also to implement a large programme of state guarantees. We have taken this decision to ensure the bank’s stability primarily as a development institution.
Foreign economic conditions are changing, and we need to adapt to new challenges and find sources of development. These goals remain among the bank’s priorities. It is also based on these considerations that we will discuss the creation of a fund for the development of single-industry cities to finance their transport and utility infrastructure, and promote the launch of new investment projects.
Today we will also discuss the possibility of
financing the purchase of Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes by some of our air
carriers. The fact that our companies buy Russian-made planes points to a good
future for our aircraft manufacturing industry. These transactions are very
important for the national economy. It’s not just that sanctions have been
imposed against a number of our companies and economic sectors. We must simply
rely on modern national technology and resources, which is why these
acquisitions – 16 planes – are expected to contribute to the development of a
whole industry.
