In a phone conversation initiated by Finland, the Russian and Finnish prime ministers expressed their condolences to the relatives and families of those killed in the crash of the Malaysian airliner in Ukraine’s airspace, and expressed the mutual understanding that the catastrophe is a terrible tragedy which demands an independent and unbiased investigation that should not be subjected to pressure from any side.
In addition, the leaders touched on issues of Russian-Finnish relations, and cooperation between Russia and the EU. Dmitry Medvedev underscored Russia’s interest in continuing meetings and consultations on these issues.
