Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets has attended a summit of the Asian group of the World Healthcare Organisation. During the summit, Ms Golodets met with Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong to discuss cooperation between the two countries in healthcare. The parties emphasised the need for growing cooperation in healthcare programmes, and acknowledged their similar approaches in promoting healthy lifestyles.
“Singapore’s experience in treating non-contagious diseases is very important for Russia. Cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality rates are significantly lower here than the global average,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
During the visit , Olga Golodets also met with Healthcare Minister of Singapore Gan Kim Yong and visited the National University Hospital.
Education was another issue on the agenda. The Russian Deputy Prime Minister visited the Raffles Institution, one of the top educational facilities in the world. An agreement was reached on establishing cooperation between the school and a number of leading educational institutions in Russia.
Later, Olga Golodets visited a primary school, the Singapore University of Technology and Design, and the Singapore Polytechnic.
