Dmitry Medvedev visits Ulyanovsk.
Dmitry Medvedev has attended the launching ceremony of the truck full-cycle production facility at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
The plant is one of Russia’s leading automotive industry enterprises. The plant specialises in manufacturing AWD light duty SUVs and their spare parts. In 2013, the plant exported over 10,000 vehicles to 20 countries, or 37% more than in 2012.
Currently, work is underway to modernise production facilities and introduce new technology under the investment project for upgrading manufacturing facilities at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.
Dmitry Medvedev’s address during the launch of the new production facility:
Good afternoon, friends!
First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the launch of the full-cycle production of Isuzu commercial vehicles. This is a new stage in the plant’s development and, of course, evidence of the stable relations between Russia and Japan and their fruitful cooperation in this sector.
Isuzu Motors Limited is Japan’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer. The company has been successfully operating in Russia for years, with the Sollers company as its reliable partner. Sollers-Isuzu is the first large Russian-Japanese joint venture manufacturing and selling commercial vehicles. The plant’s models have demonstrated sound results on Russian roads. The conditions of our roads are widely seen as challenging, and if a vehicle successfully drives along them it only proves its reliability. Now, the plant will produce other light duty truck models as well, and I hope that they will be popular with our consumers.

Production has launched at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, one of Russia’s leading automotive industry enterprises. The plant has much to be proud of.
Over its 70-something-year history, the enterprise has gone through numerous changes, with its model line-up renewed – and it is good that it has become more up-to-date. The facilities have been modernised as well, with the production process having developed and become more advanced and modernised. Some 2 billion roubles are planned for investments into modernisation efforts. Due to this, launching the full-cycle production of Isuzu trucks became possible. As of today, one-third of all truck components are manufactured in Russia. The plant plans imply that the share will amount to 40% next year. Sure, this is important for developing our national automotive industry, one the one hand, and, on the other hand, this is beneficial for our partners as well.
What does a modernised enterprise mean for our country? First of all, this provides for new jobs, modern jobs, which create an opportunity to engage in regular productive labour and therefore raise wages – which is important for every single person involved in production – and this is also a condition for solving social issues. I hope their resolution will receive proper attention as well.

I would like to once more congratulate everyone who took part in the preparations of the new production cycle. I am certain that this pleasant event is not the last of its kind, as you have major plans. Naturally, the Government will take efforts to assist with their implementation.
I wish you success with your future endeavors. Once more, my sincere congratulations on launching full-cycle production.
Thank you.
