A directive has been signed defining a procedure for duty-free import of butter into Russia in accordance with the decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved earlier.
The Ministry of Agriculture has been designated as an authorised body coordinating duty-free imports, issuing certificates of compliance of imported butter with parameters required for tariff exemption.
At the end of November, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission cancelled the duty on 25,000 tonnes of butter imports to Russia. The decision will be in effect up to mid-June 2025. In mid-December, the governments of the EAEU member states initialled it and on 23 December it came into force.
The duty-free import of butter will facilitate stability on the national food market.
