Resolution No. 1633 of 27 November 2024
The Government has decided to increase the tariff quota on exporting scrap metal and iron-and-steel wastes from the Eurasian Economic Union. This will enable industry operators to sell externally additional amounts of raw materials that are not recallable on the domestic market.
According to the resolution signed by the Government, the quota will go up from 550,000 to 650,000 metric tonnes, with the Ministry of Industry and Trade instructed to distribute the extra amounts between exporters. The decision will be in force until 31 December 2024.
As before, the duty on the quoted exports of scrap metal and iron-and-steel wastes is 5 percent but the price should not be less than €15 per tonne and 5 percent over and above that at no less than €290 per tonne.
Committed to its consistent policy of regulating metal exports, the Government introduced temporary export quotas on ferrous and non-ferrous metals against the background of growing world prices for this kind of products between 2021 and 2024. These measures made it possible to mitigate external impacts on the domestic market situation, adjust prices on raw materials, and ensure the continued implementation of major infrastructure projects.
The executed document has introduced changes in the Government Resolution of 29 June 2024 №893.
