The Government has allocated 25 billion roubles to carry out a number of measures to support Russian automobile manufacturers suffering losses due to the COVID-19 epidemic, in accordance with a directive signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
According to the document, 5 billion roubles will go towards buying ambulance vehicles, 7 billion roubles will be used to subsidise loans and 8.5 billion roubles will fund preferential leasing contracts, including the Affordable Rent state programme. The Government will spend another 4.5 billion roubles to subsidise loans for buying vehicles for public use.
This package of measures was developed at the instruction of the President of Russia with the aim of propping up demand in the automobile industry.
