The Ministry of Culture has prepared this document in keeping with the Presidential Executive Order on Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s 175th Anniversary, dated October 11, 2012.
The directive approves a plan of events to mark the anniversary. It offers a wide spectrum of events to promote Tchaikovsky’s legacy. The list of events, to be held in 2013-2015, features various festivals, competitions, commemorative gatherings, and structural improvements to sites related to the composer’s life, including in places where he spent his early years, such as Izhevsk, Votkinsk and Glazov.
The events are to be financed both from the federal budget and extra-budgetary sources. Some 1.5 billion roubles has been earmarked in the federal budget for the relevant fiscal period; a further 5 billion is to be disbursed from the budget of the Republic of Udmurtia; and about 167.2 million is expected to come in extra-budgetary funds. The total amount set aside for the Tchaikovsky anniversary in 2013-2015 is 6.6 billion roubles.
The Communications Ministry has been instructed to provide assistance to the media covering the preparation and holding of the events.
The federal law On 2013 Federal Budget and the 2014-2015 Planning Period provides for the Tchaikovsky anniversary allocations as part of the Culture Ministry’s outlays.
