The resolution was submitted by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
On 1 January 2015, the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), dated 29 May 2014, came into force, becoming an integral part of Russia’s legal system. The treaty covers the key spheres of economic activity of the EAEU member countries, paving the way for a uniform and coordinated policy designed to harmonise and unify the EAEU member countries’ legislations in those spheres, including in line with decisions adopted by EAEU bodies.
Since the EAEU Treaty is the foundation of the EAEU legal system, it is necessary to rule out the drafting or approval of laws and regulations or the signing of international treaties that might potentially contradict the EAEU Treaty.
The Government resolution obliges executive bodies to conduct compulsory verification to ensure that laws and regulations either being drafted or at the approval stage, or the drafts of international treaties being prepared for signing, comply with the EAEU Treaty and related international agreements.
The resolution was considered and approved at the Government meeting held on 12 March 2015.
