The Demidovsky, Medvezhy and Fersmanovsky offshore areas in the Barents Sea, as well as the license area that includes the Ledovoye gas condensate deposit, have been added to the list. All of these areas have been allocated to Gazprom for the geological exploration, prospecting and production of hydrocarbons.
The licences have been granted to Gazprom in accordance with articles 21, 9 and 101 of the federal law On Subsoil Resources as a legal entity established in accordance with Russian law, which has at least five years of experience in offshore hydrocarbon development, and in which Russia controls, directly or indirectly, over 50% of voting shares.
The 1,351.2 sq km Demidovsky licence area held an estimated 275.496 billion cubic metres of D2 gas resources as of January 1, 2009.
Medvezhy, with an area of 2,755.8 sq km, was estimated to contain D1l (localised) resources, including 183.008 billion cubic metres of natural gas, 2.306 million metric tonnes of condensate in place, and 2.020 million tonnes of recoverable condensate as of January 1, 2009.
Fersmanovsky covers an area of 4,153.5 sq km. Its prospective gas resources (C3), registered as part of Russia’s state assets as of January 1, 2012, amounted to 944.71 billion cubic metres.
The federal subsoil area, which includes the Ledovoye gas condensate deposit, is 1,018.4 sq km and contains С1 reserves, including 91.722 billion cubic metres of natural gas, 0.993 million tonnes of condensate in place, and 0.845 million tonnes of recoverable condensate, С2 reserves, including 330.395 billion cubic metres of gas, 3.927 million tonnes of condensate in place and 3.342 million tonnes of recoverable condensate, as registered as part of Russia’s state assets as of January 1, 2012.
According to Article 40 of the federal law On Subsoil Resources, companies that have been granted mineral development licenses are to make a one-off payment in the amount as determined by Government Resolution No 94 of February 4, 2009. For the Demidovsky area, the tax is 112.182 million roubles, for Medvezhy the tax is 112.876 million roubles, for Fersmanovsky the tax is 601.072 million roubles and for the area that includes the Ledovoye gas condensate deposit the tax is 8.240505 billion roubles.
