The Federal Penitentiary Service is a federal executive body responsible for law enforcement, control, and oversight of functions involving the punishment of persons who have been convicted of crimes; the maintenance of individuals suspected or accused of crimes and of the accused in custody, guarding and escorting them; supervision of persons on probation or serving a suspended sentence; supervision of persons suspected or accused of crimes kept under house arrest to ensure that they comply with the bans and/or restrictions imposed by the court.
