The Agreement between the Governments of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China on easing travel for citizens, hereinafter referred to as the Agreement, was signed in Moscow on 22 March 2013 following Directive of the Russian Government No. 388-r of 20 March 2013.
The Agreement aims to establish more favourable conditions for developing and enhancing contacts between the citizens of either country, primarily for businesspeople and those involved in science, culture and sport. The agreement stipulates visa-free travel for up to 30 days for special passport holders in addition to currently enforced visa-free travel for diplomatic passport holders.
The new Agreement replaces the current basic Agreement of 2000 on mutual travel between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the People’s Republic of China as well as a number of other agreements regulating their citizens’ travel.
The draft law was reviewed and approved at the 26 December 2013 meeting of the Russian Government.
