It was noted at the meeting that under the federal targeted investment programme, in 2013 the Government will finance the completion of the construction of five fire-chemical stations in four national parks – Tunkinsky, Kenozersky, Samarskaya Luka and Meshchera, and in the Bastak State National Reserve. The total funding will amount to 83.3 million roubles.
Government agencies continue to conclude agreements with specialised fire-fighting units, services and companies on joining hands in fighting wildfires. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, by the fire hazard season, 100% of natural reserves and national parks with forests will have licences for suppressing wildfires. To date 126 out of 128 protected areas have such licences.
Following the meeting, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Sergei Donskoi issued instructions to strengthen fire protection measures in wildlife reserves and national parks, in particular, to provide for joint exercises with the Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief in the Buzuluksky Bor National Park in April 2013.
