In his report, Minister of Agriculture Nikolai Fyodorov outlined the parameters for developing the agrarian sector and the food and processing industry in 2012. He also informed the meeting participants about the preparations for the fieldwork in spring 2013. The Minister also discussed the social development of rural areas and investments into the agro-industrial complex, as well as its technological modernisation. Meanwhile, he also listed the priorities of the legal framework supporting farming.
Mr Fyodorov noted that, given the increasing competition as a result of Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation, the efficiency of using the mechanisms of the new state programme – Agricultural Development and Regulation of Agricultural Products, Commodities and Food Markets (2013-2020) – must greatly improve.
