Healthcare Minister Veronika Skvortsova held a meeting with Ingushetia’s President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov in Magas on February 21 to discuss the modernisation of Ingushetia’s healthcare system.
Ms Skvortsova said that the republican and federal healthcare ministries should focus on forming a balanced three-tier healthcare system in Ingushetia.
According to the Minister, the goal is to improve primary care, first and foremost by properly staffing outpatient clinics, rural health posts, and prenatal clinics.
“We have a significant deficit in primary care. We need to create a network of inter-municipal medical centres in Ingushetia and develop high-tech medical services,” she said.
Despite high birth rates, more needs to be done to protect the health and lives of unborn children in Ingushetia.
“It is imperative to improve the maternity and early childhood system in Ingushetia. To do so, we can include Ingushetia in a special federal programme designed to improve medical services for mothers and infants,” Ms Skvortsova said.
