Deputy Minister of Transport Oleg Belozyorov took part in a working meeting of experts and representatives from the Ministry of Transport. He noted that the Ministry had been working on the strategy for transport for almost two years, but that this was the first time the document was being discussed by public at large.
Those at the meeting explained the details of the draft strategy and highlighted the experts’ proposals for revisions “It is necessary to provide both individuals and businesses with affordable, quality, and safe transport services,” said First Deputy Director General of the Scientific Centre for Transport System Problems at the Transport Ministry, Oleg Yevseyev. “Technology and new infrastructure are needed for that, which will then allow transport to drive economic and social progress. In accordance with this overall direction, objectives and scheduling have been developed to lay out a roadmap,” he said.
During the discussion, the experts proposed methods and approaches for solving certain kinds of transport problems. It was noted, that many items in the document became more clear for a wide range of experts as well as the public. The main difference between the new and improved strategy and the previous version is specific plans and fixed deadlines. All the comments and proposals will be taken into account in the final revision of the strategy, which will be discussed at the Government meeting at the end of the month.
