The natural and energy resources of the economic area accessible by the Baikal-Amur Railway offer real prospects for creating territorial industrial centres and transport hubs. The meeting participants agreed that the official events dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the start of the Baikal-Amur Railway construction will focus the attention of researchers, young people and the public on the expediency of the continuation of the railway. The town of Tynda in the Amur Region will be the centre of official events.
The action plan includes conferences and meetings with builders of the railway, awards and lectures. The Moscow State University of Railway Transport has been instructed to develop a programme for a national conference on the development of the territories of the Baikal-Amur Railway and the Far East.
