Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) Nikolai Vlasov and Acting Head of the Veterinary Department at the Ministry of Agriculture Svetlana Dresvyannikova reported on the national epizootic situation at the meeting.
As of July 22, 58 outbreaks of African swine fever had been recorded among the domesticated Russian swine population. Regional veterinary services are taking emergency action to eliminate pockets of the virus identified on July 15-19. On July 17, a suspected African swine fever outbreak was recorded at a private farm in the Moscow Region. A survey compiled by the All-Russian Research Institute of Veterinary Virology and Microbiology did not confirm this diagnosis. Regional divisions of Rosselkhoznadzor are also doing their best to eliminate 34 pockets of foot-and-mouth disease.
Participants in the meeting discussed efforts to complete the process of coordinating with federal executive agencies on the draft Government resolutions on the allocation and distribution of 11.8 billion roubles in subsidies to reimburse producers of pork, poultry and eggs for the higher prices of purchased fodder. They also discussed the coordination of Government resolutions on the allocation and distribution of five billion roubles in subsidies to reimburse agricultural producers for part of their expenses for technical and technological upgrades of production facilities.
Participants in the meeting also discussed progress under the plan to implement the state programme Fishery Industry Development in 2013 and during the 2014-2015 planning period, and to improve its regulatory framework.
