Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov and Head of the Republic of Mordovia Vladimir Volkov have inspected a number of important transport facilities in Mordovia, including the Saransk airport and the Ruzayevka station, a major railway hub.
Maxim Sokolov also chaired a meeting, which included the presentation of an experimental research project to study and improve the transport network model for inter-city and intra-district travel in the Republic of Mordovia.
In 2012-2013, the Infrastructure Development Institute completed the research project commissioned by the Ministry of Transport. During the study, specific methodological and practical recommendations to improve the transport network for inter-city and intra-district travel in the Republic of Mordovia were drawn up.
The complex of programme measures to improve transport for the population includes measures to ensure the legal regulation of the operation and development of the general purpose passenger transport network, to establish an effective control and management system for passenger travel, to expand contractual relations and introduce a system for monitoring them, to improve the network of inter-city and intra-district bus routes and their schedules, to reorganise the school transport system, and to improve safety for various categories of passengers.
