In his opening remarks at the July 12 meeting in Krasnoyarsk, the Energy Minister recalled the indicators of last year’s winter season. He said that despite the difficult situation in Siberia, including high energy consumption and power generation levels, and record low temperatures in some regions, the Russian energy system was able to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power and heat supply to individual and commercial consumers, and decrease the number of emergency situations.
Mr Novak stressed that each incident means power cuts for consumers, which can have critical consequences in Siberia.
Mr Novak reported on the work done and the plans to prepare the energy facilities and the housing and utility sector for the winter season, which, according to the Minister, will be harsher than last year. The efforts to prepare high-risk regions for the 2013-2014 winter season is under the Energy Ministry’s special control, the Minister said.
