The meeting was attended by graduates from three leading Russian higher education institutions: the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT), the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation (MSTUCA) and the Moscow State Water Transport Academy.
In his address, Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov stressed the importance of attracting skilled employees to the Ministry. Maxim Sokolov said that the quality of education of young specialists determines the personnel potential of the sector. In his view, today’s graduates will be responsible for the serious task of further developing the national transportation sector, which provides over 7% of the GDP.
He also said that beginning in 2013, the Ministry is holding an annual Welcome Day. On this day, students meet with the leadership of various departments. Their summer practice is planned, and the subjects of their term papers and graduate theses are discussed.
In conclusion, Maxim Sokolov said that the Ministry will make every effort for the Russian transport education to become competitive on the global level and for the qualifications of young specialists to provide for a high rate of development of the national transport sector.
