The meeting covered a wide range of issues with regard to the adaptation of Russian regions to WTO agricultural conditions, including state support mechanisms for agricultural producers within the framework of Russia’s WTO membership, bringing social services to rural areas, developing the cooperative movement and training a highly-skilled workforce.
Nikolai Fyodorov said that the Ministry of Agriculture is constantly monitoring production volumes and prices of domestic and imported agricultural products.
The Minister went on to say that the Ministry of Finance has proposed adjusting spending commitments for the new planning period due to budgetary restrictions. Against this background, it is of special importance that the domestic agriculture sector is protected, in view of Russia’s WTO membership.
