The ministers discussed the prospects for cooperation in agriculture.
In the first quarter of this year, the total sales turnover in agricultural products and food between Russian and Lithuania came to $132 mln. Exports to Lithuania fell by 15.9% due to a decline in the supply of corn and rapeseed oil. Imports from Lithuania increased by 31.3% year-on-year due to an increased supply of cheese, sausages, sugar and alcohol.
At the meeting, the ministers signed a memorandum of understanding between the agriculture ministries to strengthen cooperation in agriculture. The memorandum states that Russia and Lithuania will continue to cooperate in almost every sector of the farming industry, including science and engineering, and sharing knowledge and experience in rural development, seed production and land reclamation.
