The meeting, which was chaired by First Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi, involved division heads of the Interior Ministry’s Central Administration, representatives of the Ministry of Sport, Moscow’s Department of Physical Fitness and Sport and the Luzhniki Olympic Complex.
Participants in the meeting discussed security measures for participants and guests of the upcoming World Championships, as well as the protection of sport facilities and residential areas for guests.
In all, up to 3,000 police officers and servicemen of interior security will maintain public safety during the August 10-18, 2013 World Championships. There are plans to establish mobile reserve units from among the best-trained officers for dealing with possible emergencies.
Police officers and employees of private security agencies will guard sport facilities around the clock.
To ensure safe vehicle and pedestrian traffic near athletes’ residential areas and near sport facilities hosting the World Champions, additional traffic-police posts and vehicles spotting will be organised.
