During his working visit to the Astrakhan Region, Minister of Defence Army Gen. Sergei Shoigu visited the 60th training centre of combat use of the army missile troops and artillery. One of the missile units had received an Iskander-M missile complex.
Mr Shoigu heard a report by the commander of the missile brigade and reviewed the Iskander-M battery on the launching site, the command point and combat units.
Addressing the servicemen, Mr Shoigu said that the country’s leadership has taken unprecedented measures to equip the Armed Forces with new and modern weapons and military equipment. There are plans to equip with Iskander-M all of the army’s missile brigades, he said.
After reviewing the classes for retraining specialists to use new missile complexes, Mr Shoigu held a meeting with the participation of top officials of the Ministry of Defence and representatives of the military and industrial complex on issues of missile complex production, equipment with and use of these complexes
