The meeting was chaired by Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transport Sergei Aristov and Vice-Chancellor of Estonia’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications Eero Pärgmäe.
The participating parties discussed ways to improve border and customs control for the passenger rail link between St Petersburg and Tallinn, develop the contractual framework for rail and air traffic, to improve international motor transportation and the infrastructure at vehicle checkpoints on the border between Russia and Estonia.
The participants noted that the relevant authorities should continue their efforts aimed at increasing the capacity of vehicle checkpoints on the border between Russia and Estonia. The members of the Commission were also briefed by Russian and Estonian experts on the use of electronic systems for booking appointments for crossing the state border.
An agreement was reached during the meeting on the time and place for holding consultation sessions of Russian and Estonian aviation authorities and a meeting of the Russia-Estonia Joint Commission on Automobile Transport.
