Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov, Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko and Head of the Federal Road Agency Roman Starovoit took part in the opening ceremony.
When opening the ceremony, Mr Sokolov said that the previous section of the road was put into operation during the 2012 St Petersburg International Economic Forum. He noted that it is important that important transport facility projects have been implemented as part of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum for a number of years already.
The new section of the federal highway is divided into four lanes with a carriageway width of 7.5 metres in each direction and a dividing strip in the middle. The design flow is over 14,000 vehicles a day, while the rated speed is 120 km/h.
The participants laid flowers at the Permanent Fire Position of the Karelian Fortified Area memorial zone situated near the renovated highway.
