Russia’s Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko has taken part in a news conference on Designing Football Stadiums for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The news conference was dedicated to the completion of the first stage of the work.
The news conference addressed the basic issues concerned with the design and construction of stadiums: the best trends in the sports industry, innovative technology, upgrading city infrastructure for the games, scale of change in the city environment, adopting a standard approach to the construction of stadiums, and legacy of world-level sports centres.
Mr Mutko described steps being taken to implement the programme adopted by the Government on 13 June to prepare for holding the 2018 World Cup in the Russian Federation.
He also commented on the renovation of the large sports arena at the Luzhniki Olympic Centre, saying the final decision on adopting one of the three options would be ready following a meeting with FIFA representatives to be held shortly.
The minister also said the amount of money allocated for security at the 2018 World Cup may be reviewed in 2015.
