Minister of Defence Army Gen. Sergei Shoigu visited the Uzhur Missile Unit of the Strategic Air Defence Missile Forces in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Sergei Shoigu heard the report by the missile unit commander on combat duty, features of combat control and combat capacities of the Voyevoda missile complex, and inspected a silo launcher with R-36M2 missile and control points.
The Uzhur Missile Unit personnel has been on combat duty since 1990 on Voyevoda missile complexes on silo basing with an R-36M2 ICBM. This complex is aimed at destroying all types of strategic targets protected by modern ballistic missile defence means under any combat conditions. The R-36M2 missile is the fourth generation strategic missile and currently the world’s most powerful ICBM with a launch weight of 211 tonnes and payload weight over 8 tonnes.
