The participants in the meeting discussed the Ministry’s plan to implement the tasks set by the Russian President’s executive orders of May 7, 2012.
Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov said that the plan provides for the development of large transport hubs, transport logistic centres, regional aviation, a network of rapid motorways based on public-private partnerships, construction and reconstruction of motorways including for the purposes of developing urban agglomerations and improving the links between territories, as well as implementing high speed train projects.
There are plans in the area of transport infrastructure to implement before 2018 – investment projects and measures under the Transport System Development state programme, including the federal targeted programme Transport System Development for 2010-2020, and other federal programmes.
According to Maxim Sokolov, as a result of the implementation of the plan, the transport mobility of the population will increase by 40% by 2018, and exports of transportation services will increase by 80%.
The members of the Public Council discussed and approved in general the action plan for 2013-2018 presented by the Ministry of Transport, as well as the project for construction of a motorway bridge over the Lena River in the area of Yakutsk, which will be implemented on the basis of a concession agreement. The participants reported on the Ministry of Transport Public Council's performance in the first six month of 2013.
