Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov has held a meeting with a European delegation visiting Russia as part of the "Missions for Growth". The meeting took place at the site of Business Partnerships Matchmaking Forum "Russia-Europe: Cooperation without Frontiers." The European delegation was headed by European Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani.
In his speech Mr Manturov said: “Strengthening relations with the European Union remains a priority for our country. The EU is our largest trading partner, accounting for more than half of Russia's foreign trade.”
Mr Manturov and Mr Tajani are supervising the activities of the Industrial and Regulatory dialogues, in which various issues in the fields of textile, forestry, chemicals, automotive and the mining and metals industry are resolved.
Mr Manturov said: “Currently, we are pooling our efforts to give a new impetus to our cooperation. In this regard, it would be useful to know the opinion of the European business community, taking into account the fact that a subgroup on small and medium-sized businesses operates under the dialogues Its work is managed by the Ministry of Economic Development.”
Opora Russia, the all-Russian public organisation of small and medium-sized businesses, and the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises are fully engaged in the work of the subgroup.
Cooperation in industry, standardisation and technical regulation between Russia and the European Union were also discussed during the meeting.
