The competition is being held by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection together with federal executive bodies, national trade unions and employers’ associations.
"When we developed the concept for this competition our aim was to publicise the achievements and good practices of our contestants, promote the prestige of blue-collar professions, encourage the younger generation to take up vocational training and jobs in particular specialism," said Minister of Labour and Social Protection Maхim Topilin. "We are very happy that the first round was a success and struck a positive note. This year we will have new categories set by the organising committee."
In 2013, the competition will be held in the following categories:
· Train driver (federal stage: Nizhny Novgorod)
· Boilerman (venue: Zheleznovodsk, Stavropol Region)
· Bus driver (venue: Novosibirsk)
· Plasterer (venue: Saratov)
The competition is open to employees of organisations registered in Russia regardless of their form of ownership, legal form, sector, and of their subsidiaries, provided there is a relevant agreement with the legal entities that set them up.
To take part in the competition, an employee must have at least 3 years' professional experience.
The winners of the regional round, who are nominated by regional competition commissions, will proceed to the federal stage.
Participation at both the regional and federal level is free of charge.
