Under the Ministry of Regional Development’s Order No 228 dated May 31, 2013, the Ministry of Regional Development has established an inter-departmental working group to draft a federal targeted programme on the development of small towns.
The inter-departmental working group will formulate basic approaches and principles for drafting the target federal programme, and examine current disagreements between the federal agencies concerned regarding draft regulatory documents and other issues involved in implementing the draft targeted programme.
In the near future, the inter-departmental working group will formulate various measures to implement the draft targeted programme, and it will also chart approaches towards their financial and economic feasibility studies.
In order to ensure prompt cooperation between the federal executive agencies and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the implementation of the state regional socioeconomic development policy, the working group’s line-up includes representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Healthcare, and representatives of the governments of the Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Bryansk, Ryazan and Tula regions.
Russia has 775 small towns with a population between 10,000 and 50,000.
