A one-time payment to servicemen for purchasing housing will help to finally eliminate the waiting list for housing at the Ministry of Defence. The Ministry spends a lot of money on supporting servicemen waiting to receive permanent housing. At the same time, the existence of numerous vacant flats, including those rejected by servicemen, who decided to exercise their right to choose a place of residence, involves significant outlays by the Ministry of Defence on supporting these flats.
Considering these circumstances, the Ministry has drafted proposals providing for an opportunity to extend one-time payments to servicemen enabling them to purchase housing in addition to being able to receive flats “in kind.”
The main advantage of the one-time payment is that a serviceman would be able to choose the location of his flat or house, its planning and other parameters, and attract his own funds, or loans, or maternity capital to purchase or build a more comfortable home.
The amount of the one-time payment will depend on a serviceman’s length of service, the number of family members, as well as his decorations and combat accomplishments.
