At the legal forum, the Russian Minister of Justice moderated the round table, “Counteracting Threats: Balancing between Means and Ends.” The participants discussed the concept of the rule of law in various legal systems around the globe, the effectiveness of international criminal prosecution and issues of extraterritoriality in law, as well as new security threats and effective response strategies by legal and law enforcement agencies. International cooperation to combat global security threats was also discussed. Alexander Konovalov also attended the round table, “The Concepts of Law and Justice in European Tradition.” The main focus of this panel was to continue a conversation that has been crucial for European civilisation regarding the concepts of law and justice, legal awareness and legal culture.
The participants discussed the historical and philosophical foundations of law, the concepts of law and truth, law and justice in the Russian and Western European traditions, and encouraging compliance with the law.
