Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov has spoken at the Self-Identification of Attorneys international conference in St. Petersburg.
The Minister said that attorneys are the people responsible for putting the law into effect and that the public’s perception of the law depends on their professionalism and business ethics.
Mr Konovalov believes that lawyers themselves should improve their activities in Russia, while the role of the Ministry of Justice is to support them and develop the legal framework.
Participants in the conference discussed the objectives of Russian attorneys in the area of providing legal aid and the issues of lawyers’ business ethics.
