Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu held a videoconference at the Armed Forces Situation Centre today.
One of the main issues discussed was the work on creating an Angara space missile complex.
Deputy Minister of Defence Yuri Borisov said that the new schedule of work has been agreed. This work is supervised by the Commander of the Aerospace Defence Forces. Currently the Khrunichev Centre general designer is in Plisetsk, where he is monitoring the work. The number of personnel involved has increased from 400 to 600. He also said that the launch of the Angara light missile is scheduled for mid-2014, and the launch of a heavy missile is scheduled for late 2015.
The series of Angara carriers developed at the Khrunichev Centre is a new generation of missile carriers based on the universal missile module equipped with oxygen-kerosene engines. The series of Angara carriers will include carriers between light and heavy classes in the airlift range between 1.5 and 25 tonnes (Angara-A5) for low earth orbit.
In addition, the participants of the videoconference discussed the implementation of federal targeted programmes in 2013 and improving military housing.
