The issues of making housing more affordable by implementing comprehensive low-rise housing construction were discussed during an extended field meeting of the working group held in Obninsk, Kaluga Region. At the meeting it was noted that the goal will not be achieved without intensifying the construction of this category of housing, as well as stimulating demand for it. In connection with this, plans were made to increase the effectiveness of mechanisms of collaboration between state bodies and local councils and development companies, infrastructure organisations and banks.
Minister Abyzov said the Kaluga Region was a successful example of how local authorities can address this issue. While noting the growing volumes of low-rise construction in the region, he stressed that the implemented projects are in line with the preferences of people of various income levels, whereas mortgage costs are generally on a level with what residents and employers can afford.
