Minister of Energy Alexander Novak held a national meeting on the results of the performance of power supply companies in the 2012-2013 autumn-winter period. In his speech Mr Novak summarised the results of the heating season that has just concluded and spoke about the Ministry’s efforts to resolve problems in the power sector.
According to the Minister, the total number of breakdowns decreased by 3.9%, including an 8% decrease in electric equipment and a 2% decrease in grids. In general, the number of breakdowns decreased in the 2012–2013 autumn-winter period in all federal districts, except the Southern Federal District and the Far Eastern Federal District. This was due to multiple repairs during the preparation for the APEC summit in Vladivostok and the Olympic Games in Sochi. On the whole, the situation with fuel supply for power facilities was stable, he said.
He also said that following the industry’s efforts, the Tyumen Region and the Sochi Electricity District will not be included in the high risk zones next autumn-winter season. The Ministry has stabilised the growing level of non-payments on the electricity market in the regions, he said.
Mr Novak elaborated on the subject of repairs. “We see the statistical data from year to year. The repairs of power grids and substations are practically 100% implemented according to the plan. However the generating equipment is being repaired 5%-10% behind schedule. Last year 6.5 gigawatts of capacities were commissioned; total Russian capacities increased to 223 gigawatts.”
