The agreement will provide an up-to-date legal base for expanding cooperation between Russia and the UN World Food Programme and promoting Russian manufacturers’ products on the UN humanitarian service market, and will strengthen Russia’s position as an active member in facilitating international development.
The document has been introduced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry has been instructed to sign the Strategic Partnership Agreement Between the Russian Government and the UN World Food Programme for 2014-2017 (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement) on behalf of the Russian Government.
Presently, Russia’s cooperation with the UN World Food Programme is based on memorandums of understanding signed with the relevant federal executive bodies (Ministry of Emergencies, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Agriculture).
The Agreement has a framework character and proceeds from previously signed documents. It secures the strategic character of cooperation between the UN World Food Programme and the Russian Federation, and defines its central goals and principles. The implementation of the Agreement provisions fully correlates with the basic principles of the Roadmap for Russia’s State Policy in Facilitating International Development, approved by the presidential executive order on 20 April 2014.
The Agreement will provide an up-to-date legal base for expanding cooperation between Russia and the UN World Food Programme and promoting Russian manufacturers’ products on the UN humanitarian service market, as well as will strengthen Russia’s position as an active member in facilitating international development.
