The agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cooperation in the exploration and peaceful use of space (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement) is designed to create organisational and legal foundations for mutually advantageous cooperation in the exploration and peaceful use of space.
This is a framework agreement that determines the required principles, norms and terms for the development of bilateral relations in space activities, including the distribution and protection of intellectual property rights, responsibility, export monitoring, protection of property and technology, customs processing of goods etc.
The Agreement meets the interests of the Russian Federation, as cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan in space activities will support the maintenance and stepping up of production, bring an additional workload to domestic companies and enterprises of the rocket and space industry and promote high-tech services in Central Asia.
The Government reviewed and approved the draft at its meeting on 27 February 2014.
