This document has been drafted by the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation to implement Presidential Executive Order No 16 of 14 January 2014.
On 8 November 2013, the Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation approved Krasnoyarsk as the host city for the 2019 World University Winter Games (hereinafter referred to as the Universiade).
This directive establishes the World University Winter Games’ Organising Committee and approves its members. The committee, chaired by Igor Shuvalov, includes 29 members.
The directive instructs the Ministry of Sport in cooperation with the concerned executive authorities and organisations to develop and present a plan for the major events in order to prepare and hold the Universiade.
The World University Winter Games will be held in the second half of March, 2019. Up to 3,000 athletes from 55 countries are expected to take part. Competitions will be held in eight disciplines included the Universiaade’s compulsory programme (ice hockey, alpine skiing, cross country skiing, biathlon, curling, snowboard, figure skating, short track) and two additional disciplines included in the programme on the initiative of the host country (orienteering and freestyle).
The document was discussed and approved by the Russian Government on 13 February 2014.
