The meeting discussed upgrading the system for training sports reserves and introducing federal standards for sports training as well as the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport until 2020.
In his speech, the Minister of Sport focussed , in particular, on the preparations for the large-scale international sporting competitions to be hosted by Russia, including the 2018 Football World Cup. According to Mr Mutko, he intends to visit all 11 host cities to check on the situation on the ground.
The Minister paid special attention to the upgrading of the system for training sports reserves in Russia. In Mr Mutko’s opinion, all athletic schools should have unified standards and requirements for their material bases. The Minister quoted the education and athletic centre the Sambo-70 School as an example of an efficient reserve.
