The draft directive on establishing an autonomous non-profit organisation, the Expertise Centre for the World Trade Organization (hereinafter referred to as “the Centre”), by the Russian Federation jointly with the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education, the National Research University - Higher School of Economics and the Sberbank of Russia, has been introduced by the Ministry of Economic Development.
The document has been developed for the participation of Russia in the activity of the World Trade Organisation, as well as for the adequate representation of Russia in international trade disputes in the WTO Dispute Settlement Body.
Implementing the provisions of the signed document will contribute to the informational and analytical support of Russia’s membership in the WTO, expert support of federal executive bodies in the WTO’s work, formation of Russia’s legal position in international trade disputes, and attracting legal and consulting companies, including foreign ones.
The Ministry of Economic Development will exercise powers as one of the Centre’s founders on behalf of the Russian Federation.
